MacMillan Cancer Unit at UCLH Hospital, London

The opportunity came up to quote for a new shop in the reception area of the new MacMillan Cancer Unit at UCLH Hospital London.

We carried out a survey of the site during early October and came up with a design layout which with the customer, then presented to the NHS trust.

The customer was awarded the lease for the shop, we then had several more meets with the trust as they wanted to have input into the final design layout, once this was agreed we had 6 weeks to have formers made which we needed to enable the glass corners of the counter to be bent.

We used LED lighting to illuminate the retail display. The work of constructing partitioning complete with stainless steel door and frame, electrical power/lighting, installing shopfitting equipment including a very special illuminated glass counter. This work was completed in just 8 days to the delight of both the customer and the trust.

It was decided that David would be better left alone to come up with a design and actually accompanied us in the proposal meeting for the contract. Suffice to say everyone is extremely pleased with what has been accomplished in such a short period of time. The fit our was not without problems – mainly from the Trust – but David dealt with everything in his stride and was very accommodating and fair with a willingness to help overcome potential barriers placed in front of us at the last possible minute.
